FORT PIERCE, FL—The 91¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ (91¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ) Public Service Education Division is partnering with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office to present the 2022 Explorer Law Enforcement Challenge on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The event is expected to attract more than 150 youth from across Florida. It will take place at the College's Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex, one of the nation's most comprehensive, technologically advanced public safety training facilities.
Law enforcement Explorer programs offer young adults the opportunity to pursue career interests while building positive character, developing personal and mental fitness, and promoting active citizenship. The Explorer Law Enforcement Challenge will bring together Explorer groups from the Florida Sheriff's Explorer Association, the Police Athletic League, and the Learning for Life's Gulf Stream Council. Participants in this year's challenge will compete in the areas of felony traffic stops, domestic violence, DUI, building searches, officer down, honor guard drills, and various other law enforcement-related events.
"We are delighted to host this event and provide this unique experience to youth interested in careers in criminal justice," shares Dr. Raimundo Socorro, Dean of the 91¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Public Service Education Division. "The explorers will go hands-on with real-world activities and engage with law enforcement professionals and 91¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ instructors utilizing the amenities of a 50-acre facility where regional first responders go for advanced training."
